      Switch among 30 countries—from the United States and United Kingdom to Mexico, Japan, South Africa, and Taiwan. Use the search box when the list feels long. Your country stays in the URL hash so the view is shareable.

      Pick year and scope

      Look ahead through this year and the next two. Show only upcoming dates, the full year timeline, or holidays already past—useful for planning travel, school, and family displays.

      Open the countdown

      Tap Next up or any row. High-demand holidays open a fullscreen countdown landing (Christmas, Halloween, and more). Other dates open the countdown tool with the target filled in. From there you can Present, add an ICS event, set a morning alarm, or jump to the calendar day.

    Why use a holiday countdown hub?

    A calendar answers “when.” A countdown answers “how long”—for classrooms, lobbies, family rooms, and sale weeks. This hub keeps country filters, live remaining time, and suite links in one place so you do not rebuild the same target every time someone asks.

    What this page covers (and what it does not)

    We list popular public and cultural holidays for each country pack—not every regional bank holiday or school closure. Dates that move (Easter, Diwali, Tết, Chuseok) recalculate each year. For any custom datetime outside the list, open the online countdown and set your own target. Pair dedicated landings like Christmas or New Year’s when you want Present mode, Instant Looks, and year cards.

    Which countries are included?
    This page covers the same 30 countries as our year calendar, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India, Vietnam, Japan, Germany, France, South Korea, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Brazil, Singapore, Mexico, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, UAE, South Africa, Argentina, Turkey, and Taiwan. Country, year, and scope stay in the URL hash so you can share a view without a new path.
    Why do some holidays open a generic countdown?
    Dedicated landings exist for high-demand holidays such as Christmas, Halloween, US Thanksgiving, and Easter. Country-specific dates that should not reuse a US landing—Canadian Thanksgiving is the classic example—open the countdown tool with the correct date prefilled instead.
    Can I share a filtered holiday view?
    Yes. Country, year, and scope live in the hash (for example #country=gb&year=2027&scope=all). Use Share view or copy the full URL so someone else opens the same filter set.
    Is the Holidays page available in other languages?
    The hub is English-only for now, like our Guides. Opening Holidays from another language site redirects you to the English page so there is a single indexed URL.
    How is this different from the year calendar?
    The year calendar is a full-year grid with holiday markers, day panels, and leave-bridge tools. This Holidays hub is built around countdowns: next-up live digits, upcoming/past filters, Present links, ICS download, and one-click jumps into countdown landings.
    Do movable holidays update automatically?
    Yes. Holidays that move—Easter, Diwali, Tết, Chuseok, Carnival, and similar—are calculated per year in the hub payload. When you change the year chip, dates refresh for that year.
    Can I add a holiday to my calendar app?
    Yes. Use Add to calendar on Next up or on a timeline row to download an ICS file for Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, and similar apps. You can also open Alarm morning-of or the calendar day view from the same row.
    What does Present do?
    Present opens the countdown with chrome minimized for classrooms, lobbies, and big screens. On dedicated landings it uses the holiday look; on custom targets it uses the countdown Present mode. Press Escape or Exit when you are done.
    Why is UK shown as GB?
    We use the ISO country code GB for the United Kingdom so filters match the year calendar. Older links with #country=uk still work and map to GB automatically.
    Do I need an account or app install?
    No. The Holidays hub and countdown tools run in your browser. Filters and share links use the URL hash; nothing requires a sign-up.
