    Breathing timer

A breathing timer you can follow with your eyes closed

Pick a technique, press start, and follow the sphere. A soft tone rises as you breathe in and falls as you breathe out. Chimes mark each change, and an optional voice guides the first breaths, so the screen can stay dim.

    1. 01

      Choose a goal

Sleep, calm, focus, or a one-minute reset. Or pick a technique such as box breathing, 4-7-8, or coherent breathing.

    2. 02

      Follow the rhythm

Watch the sphere grow and shrink, or trace the box. With your eyes closed, follow the tone.

    3. 03

      Stop when you need to

Pause anytime. Sessions, saved rhythms, and your streak stay on this device.

A rhythm you can follow without staring

The sphere, the box, the flower, and the wave share one clock. A tone rises as you breathe in and falls as you breathe out, so the screen can stay dim. Night mode softens the stage. Present mode clears the rest of the page. Saved rhythms and your streak stay in this browser.

    What you get

    • Glass orb The sphere swells as you inhale and settles as you exhale, with a ring that shows the current phase.
    • Box trace A light travels the square so each side is one part of the breath.
    • Eyes-closed guide A tone rises and falls with the breath, and chimes mark each change.
    • Private on this device Saved sessions and practice history stay in this browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

    Breathing techniques

    • Box breathing Inhale, hold, exhale, and hold empty for four seconds each. The even rhythm is a simple way to steady attention.
    • 4-7-8 breathing Inhale for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8. The long exhale is widely used as a wind-down. Start with a few rounds.
    • Coherent breathing About six breaths a minute, in and out, with no holds. Many people use this pace for a calmer, steadier rhythm.
    • Physiological sigh A full inhale, a short second sip, then a long exhale. A few rounds are often enough to take the edge off.
    • Extended exhale Breathing out for twice as long as you breathe in. A simple pattern for slowing down.
    • Triangle breathing Inhale, hold, and exhale for the same length. Three sides, and no empty hold — a gentle first pattern.
    • Equal breathing Matching the length of each inhale and exhale. A steady foundation before longer holds.
    • Energizing breath A shorter inhale and exhale, about two seconds each. A few rounds are enough for a gentle wake-up. Stop if you feel light-headed.

    Breathe safely

These patterns are for relaxation, not medical treatment. Long holds and fast breathing can make you light-headed. Sit or lie down. Do not practice while driving or in water. Stop if you feel dizzy or unwell. Skip long holds if you are pregnant or have a heart or lung condition.

    Frequently asked questions

    Patterns, timing, and privacy.

    What is box breathing?
Box breathing is four equal parts: inhale, hold, exhale, and hold empty, usually four seconds each. Trace the sides of a square, or follow the sphere.
    How does 4-7-8 breathing work?
Inhale for 4, hold for 7, and exhale for 8. The long exhale is a common wind-down before sleep. Try a few rounds with night mode on.
How long should a session be?
One to three minutes is enough for a reset. Many people use five to ten minutes when they want a longer pause. A short daily session is easier to keep than a long one.
    What is coherent breathing?
About six breaths a minute, roughly 5.5 seconds in and 5.5 seconds out, with no holds.
Can I use it with my eyes closed?
Yes. Turn on the guide tone. It rises while you inhale and falls while you exhale, and chimes mark each phase. Night mode keeps the screen dim.
    Is my data private?
Yes. Sessions, mood notes, and history stay in this browser. A share link only describes the rhythm. It does not store your practice on our servers.
    What is the physiological sigh?
Two inhales, then one long exhale. Take a full breath, add a short sip, and let it all out. A few rounds are a common way to settle quickly.
Can I save my own rhythm?
Yes. Open Adjust rhythm, set the inhale, hold, exhale, and empty hold, then tap Save. The session stays on this device and you can open it again later.
Does it keep time if I switch tabs?
Yes. The rhythm follows the browser clock, so a short switch away does not reset the phase. Keep the tab open, and leave the sound on if you want the tone.
    Is this medical advice?
No. These patterns are for relaxation. Sit or lie down, skip long holds if you are pregnant or have a heart or lung condition, and stop if you feel dizzy.
