    Five-minute countdown

A 5-minute timer you can start in one tap

This page loads a 5:00 countdown. Press Start for a short break, a kettle, a stretch, or a micro-task. The dial, sound, and fullscreen controls are the same full online timer — not a stripped widget.

Five minutes is long enough to reset focus without losing a work block. Keep the tab in the background; the deadline clock stays accurate. When time is up you get an on-page alarm and an optional browser notification.

    1. 01

      Start at 5:00

The face is already set to five minutes. Press Start (or Space). Tap the time if you want to nudge seconds.

    2. 02

      Start the countdown

Press Start or Space. Progress updates on a circular dial, and the face shows when the timer ends. Pause anytime, add +1 min, queue another timer, or go fullscreen / sleep for a distraction-free display. The tab title shows remaining time while you work elsewhere.

    3. 03

Hear the alert & keep going

When time is up, stop the alarm with one tap. Start the next queued timer, review local history, export CSV, or copy a shareable link. A refresh restores an in-progress countdown on this device.

When a 5-minute countdown is the right length

Use it between Pomodoro sessions, for breathing or a quick tidy, or as a kitchen check. Need a longer block? Switch to 10, 25, or 60 minutes from the links below — each length has its own page that starts at that time.

    What you get

    • Presets & quick lengths Jump to common seconds, minutes, and hours, or named timers like study and classroom. The Countdown pane still offers weekdays, times of day, and a custom datetime — holiday countdowns are on the Online Countdown tool.
    • Background-tab accuracy Countdown uses deadline math so it stays correct when the browser throttles hidden tabs.
    • Sounds, notifications & wake lock Choose alert sounds and ring length, get a desktop notification when finished, and keep the screen awake while running.
    • Fullscreen & sleep mode Go fullscreen for a large dial display, or sleep to dim the whole page so only the countdown stays visible.
    • Up-next queue While a timer is running, tap presets to queue up to three countdowns and start the next when you are ready.
    • Embed widget Drop a compact countdown on your site with custom colors, size, skin, and default duration.

    Frequently asked questions

Setting the dial, presets, alerts, and embeds — quick answers.

Does this 5 minute timer start automatically?
No. The page opens at 5:00 so you can read the room or unmute audio first. One tap on Start begins the countdown.
Will I hear an alarm after 5 minutes?
Yes. When 5:00 hits zero the timer plays your chosen sound. Allow notifications if you want a desktop alert while you are in another tab.
Can I use a 5 minute timer on my phone?
Yes. It runs in the mobile browser with a large Start control. Fullscreen and sleep mode help on a kitchen counter or desk.
How is this different from Google’s 5 minute timer?
Google’s widget is fine for a one-off. This page keeps skins, queue, share links, embed, and a running session if you refresh — useful when 5 minutes is part of a repeating routine.
