    Soft-boiled timing varies with egg size and starting temperature. Six minutes is a reliable first try for large fridge eggs; go shorter for runnier yolks or open the egg timer page for a firmer 10:00 hard-boil baseline.

      Lower eggs into simmering water, press Start, then ice-bath when time is up. Adjust ±30–60 seconds next time to match your preferred yolk.

    How is this different from the egg timer?
    The egg timer page starts at 10:00 for firmer boils. This page starts at 6:00 for soft centers. Same tool, different default.
    Should I start from cold water or boiling?
    This timer assumes you start counting once eggs are in hot/boiling water. If you start from cold water, add time or use your usual method and adjust the dial.
